a Steiner Waldorf School, Bangalore
at the village of Tharalu (Off Kanakapura Road)
The new campus of the school is in the village of Tharalu (Off Kanakapura Road). Waldorf schools are often situated in natural, scenic locations, such as wooded areas or rural settings. This close connection to nature reflects the Waldorf philosophy, which emphasizes the importance of fostering a deep relationship with the environment as part of a child's holistic development. Being surrounded by natural beauty allows students to engage with the outdoors, promoting creativity, exploration and a sense of wonder.
After a couple of years of intense search, finally we found & acquired a 2-acre land parcel in the charming village of Tharalu, situated approximately 3 kilometers from the Kaggalipura intersection along the Kanakapura main road.
Tharalu is a scenic village, adorned with numerous lakes, farms and meandering paths that enhance its natural beauty. Our selection of this land parcel was deliberate, as its serene ambiance appears to be perfectly suited for a Waldorf school.
It has abundant lung space & a refreshing environment for learning and exploration, as is situated approximately 8 kilometers from the Bannerghatta National Park. The many lakes in the vicinity and the greenery around ensure good water & air supply around the school.
Nestled in farmland between Bannerghatta Road and Kanakapura Road, this campus is ideally positioned for the ease of commute of children from the major residential areas & gated communities of these 2 main roads.
The architecture of a Waldorf School is about children making connections to the environment, the cosmos and humanity through their education. Parents and Teachers have come together to envision, plan and design this lovely inclusive school campus.
The building plan was uniquely designed by the renowned architect & heritage conservationist, Prof Sathya Prakash Varanashi.
Our ecofriendly building design incorporates the use of natural and sustainable materials for construction. A 1' stream flowing through the campus, a bio pond, a mini forest with a fruit garden, are some of the natural features this campus will feature.
We are all set to build this new inclusive school campus to provide exceptional education from Kindergarten to Grade 10, catering to 400-450 students, of whom about 100+ students will be neurodivergent.
Facilities have been carefully planned for proper integration, keeping the needs of all children in mind. Labs, library, Woodwork/Claywork areas have been planned for our neurotypical children of the Upanishad section. For our Kalpataru section of neurodivergent children, Remedial rooms, Therapy and Counselling rooms etc have been planned.
This project is a testament of beautiful community work. Parents have been working hand-in-hand with Teachers & Core Team at every level in bringing this lovely dream into reality.
Sunday, Oct 6, 2024 will be remembered as a milestone day of our school. We came together with immense joy & happiness in our hearts to participate in the Bhoomi Pooja of the future campus of the school.
It was a lovely gathering of children, teachers, parents, family members, friends, neighbors, and well-wishers, all present at this auspicious ceremony to offer their blessings and good wishes.
