The Waldorf community is a supportive and collaborative group of individuals who are inspired by Steiner education. It includes students, teachers, parents and alumni, as well as those who embrace the educational and philosophical values established by Dr Rudolf Steiner. It typically mirrors the culture of a joint family.
At Kingdom of Childhood, the community of parents, teachers, and volunteers is built around children working closely together, hand-in-hand, by identifying and respecting each other's strengths to foster a holistic and harmonious environment filled with togetherness and calmness. This reflects the core philosophy of Dr. Rudolf Steiner's nature-based learning, which emphasizes holistic education, creativity and strong social bonding.
TEACHERS
Teachers are
the backbone of a Waldorf community. They play a central and dynamic role in
shaping not only the academic development of our children but also their
emotional, social and creative growth. They are deeply committed to our unique
approach of emphasizing holistic development and nurturing the "whole
child"—head (thinking), heart (feeling) and hands (doing). Their role is
multifaceted, blending, teaching, mentoring and lifelong learning.
They serve as
role models, demonstrating ethical and moral behaviour in their interactions
with students and colleagues. Through stories, discussions, and classroom
activities, teachers instil values such as respect, responsibility, empathy,
and cooperation into the young minds.
Class teachers
typically stay with the same group of students for 7 - 8 years. This continuity allows teachers to develop
deep, trusting relationships with their students, creating a stable and secure
learning environment. It also gives them an in-depth understanding of each
child’s individual development, strengths, and needs.
They regularly
receive training in Waldorf methods at various levels, which includes
understanding developmental stages of children and a commitment to integrating
artistic, practical, and inclusive activities into their teaching.
Kingdom Of
Childhood Is blessed with some incredible group of Teachers who work

PARENTS
As a Waldorf school, we aspire to build a community of individuals who are connected by their intention, values and a common goal of creating a nurturing environment for all children. Parents of our school play a vital and supportive role in creating such an environment. Parents lend their time, effort and resources to many important aspects of the school, creating a robust school with the strong purpose of creating a holistic learning environment for children.

Parents have also taken on important supportive roles in the pedagogical areas of teaching arts, crafts, clay, and woodwork, which are integral to the delivery of the Waldorf curriculum. They volunteer for festivals, classroom activities and
school events. Their involvement in teaching arts, crafts, gardening, clay
& woodwork with the children is critical in our day-to-day school
activities. This active participation helps build a strong sense of community
and belonging. It is quite commendable that these parents have taken time out of their busy schedules to work on a voluntary basis with children of the school. Their contribution in this area is invaluable.
Crafty Hands is a Parent initiative with a goal of promoting art and craft among other parents. Workshops spanning different art and craft forms such as Crochet, Knitting, Quilling, Macrame, Clay modelling and many more are conducted by these very talented ladies of Crafty Hands. The lovely display and sale of beautiful handmade items during our annual Sankranthi Santhe is a feast for every eye.
In general, parents who choose this
education for their children, value its holistic approach, which balances
academic, emotional, and practical learning. They appreciate how this education
nurtures creativity, imagination, and independent thinking in providing a memorable
learning experience for their children that enables them grow into independent
individuals.
Three parents took the initiative to create a vegetarian kitchen at our Somanahalli campus, ensuring students receive hot, fresh, nutritious meals every day. This aligns well with Waldorf principles, which emphasize the importance of healthy food and lifestyle in fostering holistic development. Regular inspections by parents and seasonal menu changes reflect a high level of care and commitment.
In Feb 2023, the school kitchen was established in our Somanahalli campus by 3 parents. A vegetarian kitchen, ensuring that students receive hot, fresh, and nutritious meals every day, was the goal of this team of committed parents. Since then, a dedicated kitchen staff has been cooking and serving lunch and snacks, prepared with mostly organic ingredients, to children every day. The kitchen staff cooks and serves with love, and children reciprocate with thanks and reverence. Parents continue to stay engaged and help with collaboration on the menu, sourcing, costing etc.
A team of Parents and Teachers has worked together to make our new campus at Tharalu a reality. Parents have helped us through the challenging process of securing the required Govt. permissions. A beautiful eco friendly design has emerged for the new school campus, after this team has worked for about an year with a professional Architect. With the rest of the parent community contributing financially and supporting the task of fundraising, the new campus will soon be a dream come true!
Kingdom of Childhood frequently organizes festivals, fairs, and events that reflect seasonal rhythms and the educational philosophy, promoting a sense of shared culture and values. Children, parents, teachers, and others are deeply involved, embodying the true spirit of the Waldorf community.
