a Steiner Waldorf School, Bangalore
Community events in Waldorf schools are an integral part of the Steiner Waldorf education. They are rooted in the seasonal rhythms and cultural traditions. They provide opportunities for celebration, collaboration, and deepening relationships & social bonding among the members of our community. These events reflect the core values of togetherness, creativity, and respect for nature, local culture & foster a strong sense of connection among students, teachers, parents and the broader school community.
Sankranthi Santhe is our flagship event & we have been celebrating it for many years now. It is a day-long event on a Sunday, organised by the entire school community of Parents, Teachers & Volunteers. This event provides an opportunity to look into the world of Steiner Waldorf Community & experience it.
It's an opportunity for people outside of our community to see & buy the authentic Waldorf Handwork & also take part in the workshops to learn macrame, knitting, crochet, quilling, needle felting, weaving etc.in a Waldorf way. Also an opportunity to become a Waldorf Kindergarten child to see & experience the authentic Waldorf way of doing Puppetry during the story-telling time in our Kindergarten.
Clay modelling is another craft that happens in a Waldorf school on a regular basis. Children can experience doing it. Eurythmy - an art form of expression using archetypal gestures and spatial movement in a way which gradually creates an awareness in the children & adults of how they move and express themselves.
Folkdance, Face Painting, Bullock cart rides & many more exciting activities. Last but not the least - FOOD - delicious & healthy food made by the parents of our school community will be available in food counters to satisfy your taste buds.
An opportunity to revisit the traditional games or forgotten games, where the generation of children way back in 80s & 70s or even before used to play. Drums Circle is a magical activity that shows how harmony among a group of children & adults can be achieved through a rhythm or by a change of rhythm.
Parents of the school volunteer in large numbers to make this event meaningful. This is a one-off occasion where a lot of people from outside of our community walk-in, thereby making the Santhe an annual flagship event of the school.
